Hello everyone, I’ve created a Bill of Materials (BOM) template in Excel for Engineering and Purchasing. There are three template sheets:

• BOM - Engineering + Purchasing
• EBOM - Engineering
• PBOM - Purchasing

I’ve added some formulas automatically calculate costs and number of parts. Additionally, if you turn on Protect Sheet (Review > Protect Sheet), I have set certain columns to become uneditable to avoid human error.

Engineering BOM (EBOM)

Purchasing BOM (PBOM)

The PBOM is complementary to the EBOM. When an EBOM is released, use the PBOM to track parts marked for purchasing. Use separate EBOM and PBOMs when there is a clear distinction between releasing the EBOM and starting the PBOM.

Engineering + Purchasing BOM

Merging the EBOM and PBOM is particularly useful when there is no clear distinction between the release of an EBOM and the start of a PBOM.
